Canucks Add Blue Line Depth

2012-01-04

In an effort to solidify their blue line after dealing Chris Pronger the Canucks were able to land Dennis Seidenberg and Barrett Jackman in two seperate deals on Tuesday.

The first move saw the Canucks move Grant Clitsome, prospects Kirill Kabanov and Tyler Cuma along with a 2nd round pick to Minnesota for Seidenberg.  Seidenberg has emerged as a top defender and should see himself playing with Chara on the top pairing.  By aquiring the Wild's top dman, this move also helps the Canucks add some value to Minnesota's 1st round pickthat they hold for the up coming draft.

The second move of the day saw the Canucks send Fernando Pisani and prospect Max Gardiner to St.Louis for Jackman.  Jackman who is know for his bone jarring hits, should add a veteran presence to the 3rd pairing.

Based on their current cap space, these move should allow the Canucks to still add some depth to the forward position to help them make another run for the Cup.
